About Us

History

Our story begins under a mango tree, where a small dream grew into a movement for change.

Women Concerns and Ideas (WCI) started with just a small group of brave women sitting under a mango tree in Village One, Zone 3, Bidibidi Refugee Settlement. They were tired of being silent. They had big hearts, strong minds, and one dream to help other women, girls, and youth live better lives.

At first, we had no office, no money, and no materials. But we had ideas, passion, and the will to change things. We began by going door-to-door, talking to mothers and young girls about their health, rights, and how to stay safe. Some laughed at us, some ignored us, but many listened. And from those first small talks, something big started to grow.

Over time, more women joined us. Then youth. Then men who believed in change. We started giving trainings under trees, holding meetings at schools, and even teaching girls how to sew using one donated sewing machine. Slowly, people started seeing us as a voice for the voiceless.

Today, WCI is more than just a group; it is a family of determined women, girls, and youth working hand in hand to build safer, stronger communities. We run awareness campaigns on gender-based violence, organize livelihood skills trainings, support survivors, and connect youth with opportunities. Our work has inspired hope in families who once felt forgotten.

What began under a mango tree has grown into a recognized grassroots movement. We continue to dream bigger, stand bolder, and push forward with one belief that when women and youth are empowered, the whole community rises.

Our MissioN

Amplifying the voices and stories of women, girls, and marginalized communities to drive social change and empower women to take control of their health and economic well-being.

Our VisioN

A self-reliant community where girls, women, and youth thrive through knowledge, skills, and economic empowerment.

Our Extraordinary Belief

We believe that when women and youth are empowered, the whole community rises. We believe in equality, dignity, and safety for every woman, girl, and young person. We believe that change starts small, but with passion and unity, it can transform entire communities.
